I’m back from the Olympic village! Brazil was oh-so-wonderful! My sister is number 1 triple jumper in the country and number 4 in the world. Not bad for a 20-year-old college sophomore. Between that, and being in the same building with Usain Bolt, I’m beyond motivated. Such a powerful experience! As you can probably tell, I’m still quite excited. For those who would like to know who my sister is, her name is Keturah Orji. She’s awesome!
Now let me elaborate just a little on this powerful experience. Great athletes covered the track and field. Strong. Fearless. Determined to win. The love and support they received from the crowd empowered them. Feet stomping. Voices belting from hearts of all ages.
When the time came for the men’s 100-meter final, and the fastest man in the world crossed the finish line, it was pure pandemonium.
“Usain Bolt! Usain Bolt!” Not a single mouth was silent in that moment.
And that, my friends, was my revelation. (Side note: I just found out that today is Usain Bolt’s birthday. WOW! Talking about confirmation.)
So, where am I going with this? My Book Project. I’m going to be brutally honest with you guys…but then again, when am I not? This project is NOT cheap. However, if you want people to invest in you, you have to invest in yourself and be willing to sacrifice a lot of things.
Olympic athletes invest in themselves to get to compete with the greatest of the greats. This trip to Brazil allowed me to see a deeper aspect of the Olympics. You don’t have to be an athlete to be an Olympian. You simply have to be dedicated, passionate and willing to invest all you have for what you want. Period.
I mentioned mentors and investors in a previous blog entry (OG Mentor), and below is a post from one of my daily Early morning Ab-stracts on Instagram. It pretty much sums it up in a nutshell.
