A power draw in pool is  a draw shot where significant ball speed and spin is required.  What is y-our Why? This is a time for us to focus on US as individuals so we can unite. There is not much I can say in regards to that question as we all have our own unique Why. All I can say is try to use this time to reflect on where you draw power from.  I will say this, I wouldn’t have fully understood the quote above if I did not fully understand Oprah’s words in the video below.

I can definitely say that after such a relaxing, peaceful, hot-cocoa, warm-chicken-soup, cozy, comforting, free-spirited, soft-pillow, snowed-in, yet heartbreaking weekend, Motivation Monday is always needed.

Mondays aren’t always easy, and a weekend doesn’t always turn out as planned. As some of my Facebook friends may already know, I was hit by some sad news this past Saturday morning. A cousin of mine passed away.

What boggles my mind is that the night before—or actually, very early Saturday a.m.—he appeared in my dream. In the dream we laughed, watched movies, and enjoyed each other’s company. When I woke up from the dream I was restless. I couldn’t understand why I had a dream about him out of the blue. I dozed off and woke up again around eight o’clock. While scrolling through Facebook, I came across his little sister’s post. The first thing that caught my eye, as social media has trained us so well to see, was the crying emoji, next to the words ‘lost’, and lastly ‘my only brother.’

That right there told me all I needed to know. This great soul had visited me right before leaving this earth. Throughout that entire Saturday I kept asking myself, “Why? How? A heart attack? So young?”

Anyway, I’m getting too emotional, and that’s not what today’s post is about. The point of me sharing this grief story is to say that sometimes sad, and even devastating things happen in our lives. At those times we need an extra push. My extra push was knowing that I can turn to Motivation Monday to uplift my spirits. We can’t give up, and we can’t give in, because our actions determine who we are not only in this life.

As cliche as it may sound, we don’t know the hour or second that we will have to leave this earth. Until then, we have to keep going.

Each day I give the gift of themes in poem form, as poetry is defined as something that arouses strong emotions because of its beauty. For there is beauty in the strength of each day.

Motivation Monday

A red and bold day.

An uplifting, take-action day.

 A day that calls to the spirit of leadership.

A day that promotes ambition and determination.

 A day that delivers a quote, positive video, or hopeful news headline.

Motivation Monday yells through loss and tragedy,

“Although it feels like our efforts are in danger of being deleted

 we can and will fight back stronger, wiser, and louder!

So that when we are long gone our efforts will still live on!”

Let’s look at it this way — the quicker you get where you are going, the quicker you can help others get where they are going. You have to go through a lot of trying times in order to actually become an OG (Original Guidance)Mentor. I know, I know, here I go with my acronyms again. I told y’all, I have acronyms for everything. Either they have a thing for me, or I have a thing for them. It also looks like I have a thing for the letters O and G. I just realized I used them in my poem OG Talk w/ Babygirl as well.

Anyway, when I say Original Guidance Mentor I’m not talking about a little advice here and some suggestions there. I’m talking about the type of mentor who sees a person with a unique God-given skill and can invest not only their knowledge and time but their money as well. Reality is that money changes the game. When a person knows that there is someone out there who not only believes in them but will invest in their skill financially, they are even more likely to succeed.

You see, OG mentors have passed a lot of life tests, perhaps some you haven’t even been hit with yet:

• The tests that push you to a corner and make you want to quit.
• The tests that leave you broke-n.
• The tests that have you feeling empty.
• The tests that force you to want more.
• The tests that leave you starving and full, simultaneously.
• The tests that push you to learn how to move your money.
• The tests that help you realize how important a mentorship is.

So then, when you make it to your goal, having passed trials of your own, you can assist someone else do the same.
